They lay experiments on paper plates
and pour them, blue and green, in shot glasses;
red wine to wash away the cow methane
and eggs that are not eggs.
Is this cupful of soup nostalgia what it seems
or will it burst in fireworks upon your tongue
and turn your head, entice you, trip you up
and make you sniff and lick, trying to taste
what you thought you already knew, again.
